Chicago has never been the same since Mike Royko died. A growing number of Chicagoans, overcome with grief at Royko’s death and the decline of Chicago print journalism, have started an epidemic of suicides. WiIl God allow this epidemic to continue? You will find the answer in this book.
In this collection of short stories and essays, noted Chicago trial lawyer Peter Katsaros writes about his gorgeous town, its beloved Mike Royko in heaven, and politics in the Millenium. In a satiric and humorous style Katsaros pillories the usual suspects—Chicago politicians, religious hypocrites and his favorite target, Tea Party Republicans and their toadies.
Katsaros writes with the love and passion that he has for family, friends, faith and athletics as he encourages other Chicagoans to lace up their running shoes, run the Lakefront with friends, and leap over life’s hurdles into happiness and grace.
Peter Katsaros has found the secret passageway to a happy life. He has decided to share it with all of us in this book.

If you ever had the pleasure of reading Chicago columnist Mike Royko at his best, treat yourself to Katsaros' channeling of Royko along with other significant historical figures. The satirical and sometimes hilarious ruminations and dialogues Katsaros launches are refreshing in a world so concerned with 'politcal correctness' Also, Katsaros' musings from his own office and home and his reflections on meaningful figures in his life, particulalry the strong women he's had the pleasure of knowing, come off as light-hearted and genuine as opposed to some of the self-absorbed passive aggresive bragging that so many authors can't seem to avoid. This is a quick, fun read that I highly recommend.Product details

The Old Irving Park Literary Society edition by Peter Katsaros Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What do Voltaire and Mike Royko have in common? When you read Peter Katsaros' delightful stories about his beloved Chicago you'll find out. This book is such a treat, graced with wit and deep understanding of both literary and Chicago characters. It makes you think and laugh. What could be better?
Usually when I pick up a book of short stories I read one -- maybe two; I couldn't put this book down. With humor and grace, Voltaire (aka Peter Katsaros) introduced me to his heroes, his friends, his city -- and along the way I learned a lot about him. Katsaros has a strong love for Chicago, a dedication to reading and learning, a passion for exercise, and a deep commitment to his family and friends. His devotion to a daily writing routine gives him the opportunity to make observations about the life he loves; it has resulted in this book. I highly recommend it.
Reading Peter's new book I dreamed of a weekend game of 16" softball, a bike ride along the lake front, and cracking open a Hamm's beer (ok, substitute Sam Adams). I smiled page after page thinking back to my Chicago roots and the ever present influence of crooked politicians, local taverns, Slats Grobnik and all things great and flawed Chicago. A satsifying afternoon read.
Mr. Katsaros is a man who is clearly in love with his city, his literary pursuits, his family and his life. This book is chock full of his observations about the city he loves- Chicago- as well as his appreciation of and loyalty towards his many friends, his passion for running, his love-affair with literature and newspaper columnists (Mike Royko a particular favorite) and, most of all, Mr. Katsaros' realization that life is a thing to be treasured every day. He is clearly a fortunate man and his humble appreciation of all of the many gifts life has offered him- his family first and foremost- is an inspiration. Congratulations to Mr. Katsaros for bringing this lovely book to fruition. Highly recommended.
